Jasmine Golphin is an independent filmmaker and creative writer from Cleveland Ohio who has a nearly unhealthy obsession with the art of storytelling. She wrote, directed and produced the web series To New Beginnings (2016) , directed the first season of The Adventures of Fab Jenkins (2016), has been published in HitRecord’s Tiny Book of Tiny Stories vol 3 (2013), in various online publications like Indiewire and Alturus and placed second in Octavia Spencer’s Short Film competition (2013). Currently she is working on The Whitebox: Redux, a documentary web series exploring the experiences artists of color in Cleveland. She also mentors high school students, typically female and non-binary students of color interested in visual storytelling through programs with MyCom, Neighborhood Leadership Instituted and the Cleveland International Film Festival. Jasmine’s focus is on telling stories of marginalized people in whether medium may suit that story best – narrative or nonfiction, essay or podcast, feature film or series, and whatever new storytelling technology is to come. More than anything, she sees as art is not just a path for self expression but also a way to connect to one another. To see yourself in someone else’s story and feel perhaps a little less alone.

  • Rosemary Gramajo Quiñones
    Rosemary Gramajo Quiñones
Film, Radio and Television Artist; Musician; Poet; Singer; Writer
Hello, my name is Rosemary Gramajo Quiñones I am a first-year college student. My career started when I was in the fifth grade and wrote a poem called Three Countries in a Heart. With this poem, I was able to visit Barack Obama at the white house and it opened doors to many opportunities. Along the way, I started high school and joined nonprofits like the ACLU of Ohio, HOLA, Esperanza, and now more recently Art of me. Because of my accomplishments, I’ve been asked to speak with different groups of youths and motivate them. My passion is to help others find themselves and explore their talents. I like to do this through my writing. A lot of the things that I write about are based on experiences that I’ve been through and how I’ve overcome them. I am also a songwriter and singer. I also play piano!!! Everything I do out of love. My mentality is not to gain fame and money. My mentality is to grow and help others grow and if in that process I gain some fame and money then I will give thanks to the Lord for that. But my priority as an artist is to inspire.

Aja Joi is a Cleveland photographer, highlighting the human connection to the unknown and unseen, and the beauty and power of our own being. Our environment supports us, and established itself before we came to exist, so of course we must honor our first home and mother. “My work is very sacred to me, as it allows me to express my current journey. Creative portraiture allows me to appreciate others who are just like me, ad totally different from me in countless ways. It is a challenge to portray a subject as a complete, unique human being, deserving of respect and a voice.”
  • Tiara Grayson
    Tiara Grayson
    Visual Artist: Painting, Visual Artist
Artist Statement- Insomnia gives way to hypnagogic images, forming a loose translation of an unknown universe. These images are often vivid, detailed, abstract and woven into many of my paintings. Sometimes in unexpected ways. My current work, abstract mixed media was born out of curiosity, a lack of traditional materials, and ultimately a need to challenge myself. My paintings give shape, color and structure to this intangible, theoretical universe allowing for vulnerability, an open-mindedness and a connection we all seek as humans.
