I am a figurative expressionist. I draw many subjects. But birds and human figures predominate. I’ve always drawn birds. Their forms are so functional and elegant. My “people drawings” focus on semi-abstracted form and motion. And every so often, I do four-legged critters, often imaginary – unicorns, monsters, horned creatures, stuff like that.

In making paintings, drawings, and prints, my goal is to take reality and turn it into something imaginary and a little odd. I believe art should strive to take us out of the ordinary. I love color and texture more than detail. My goal is not to do precise depictions but rather to do interesting artwork. I am always trying to make a texture or form that catches the eye and gives pleasure.
