Here’s the feature made by long-banned—but defiant—Iranian master Jafar Panahi (The White Balloon, This Is Not a Film) before his re-arrest and imprisonment in July. (He’s currently serving a six-year sentence.)

Panahi stars in the movie as a version of himself, playing a Persian film director, forbidden from both making movies and leaving the country, who surreptitiously shoots a new work in Turkey which he directs remotely from a rented room in a rural village on the Iranian side of the Turkish border.
