Franklin and Diana Cohen curate an evening of music inspired by the works of Oskar Kokoschka for ChamberFest Cleveland’s ninth season, Carte Blanche!
Oskar Kokoschka considered Bach, Mozart and Beethoven “demigods,” was friends with Hindemith and Berg, and reflected on his stormy affair with Mahler’s widow in his painting The Power of Music. The Cohens, inspired by “the edgy, jagged and wildly colorful style” of this leader of Viennese expressionism, here champion music from early Brahms to early Xenakis. CIM’s parking lot is located off Hazel Drive, directly behind the 1609 Hazel Residence Hall. The entrance is on the north end of the residence hall; pedestrians may exit and enter from the south end, nearer CIM’s main building. Note that all parking in CIM’s circle drive on East Boulevard is subject to availability. Violators may be ticketed or towed.
