Orion Weiss curates an evening of music inspired by the works of Albert Bierstadt for ChamberFest Cleveland’s ninth season, Carte Blanche!
Two large-scale chamber works by Brahms and Chausson encompass sweeping vistas – “broad landscapes in music” – that remind Orion Weiss of Albert Bierstadt’s breathtaking landscapes of the American West. Liszt’s tranquil Paysage (“Landscape”) also came to mind, as did his darker Nuages gris (“Gray Clouds”) written many years later and foreshadowing the direction much 20th Century music would take. CIM’s parking lot is located off Hazel Drive, directly behind the 1609 Hazel Residence Hall. The entrance is on the north end of the residence hall; pedestrians may exit and enter from the south end, nearer CIM’s main building. Note that all parking in CIM’s circle drive on East Boulevard is subject to availability. Violators may be ticketed or towed.
