Student Printmakers Show: Menlo Park Academy

Join Gordon Square Arts District and Menlo Park Academy on Friday September 28th for the opening reception of our first Student Printmakers Exhibit, an art exhibit featuring the projects from 7th and 8th grade students in teacher John Cycyk’s art classes.

For the first month of school, Cycyk’s Menlo students studied the history behind the native art of gorgets, where detailed patterns and designs are carved into shells and worn around the neck. With this knowledge, and through the use of symmetry, symbology and negative space, the young artists created relief stamps to print their designs. See the culmination of this project and support the young artists in our neighborhood with this special one-weekend exhibit!
