Shaping Shaker's Future: African Americans and the Arts

What do diversity, equity and inclusion in the arts mean to you? What do they mean to the members of our Shaker Heights community? The Shaker Historical Society is revisiting these questions in our third Shaping Shaker’s Future panel discussion in celebration of the 2024 Black History Month theme “African Americans and the Arts,” cosponsored by the Shaker Heights Public Library.

Dr. Lawrence Burnley, Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer for Shaker Schools, will moderate this discussion with Colleen Jackson, actress, singer, and Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer for the City of Shaker Heights; Mariama Whyte, singer, songwriter, actor and producer; and Sam Hooper, band leader, songwriter, guitarist, and teaching artist.
