A conversation with Dr. Hanna-Attisha, author of “What the Eyes Don’t See: A Story of Crisis, Redemption, and Hope in an American City,” on her fight against environmental injustice, how the residents of Flint have prevailed, and what we can do.
A few years ago, the country watched in horror as the national media descended on Flint, Michigan. A switch in drinking water sources – from Lake Huron and the Detroit River to the Flint River – had caused nearly 100,000 residents to be exposed to dangerous amounts of lead. Those most affected were children whose lead blood levels doubled or, in some cases, tripled after the switch was made, resulting in developmental and behavioral problems.

If you’re driving, parking is available immediately west of the City Club building in the Euclid Prospect Gateway Garage. The cost is $10.00 before 4:00 pm and $4.00 after 4:00 pm. Special event pricing does apply. If you are at the city club between 11:00 am and 2:30 pm, bring your ticket with you into the City Club and we will validate your ticket to reduce the cost to $3.00.
Discounted valet parking is available at the Metropolitan at the 9 hotel. Bring your ticket in with you to the City Club to receive a discount validation.
