The Oscar-winning Japanese composer and techno-pop artist Ryuichi Sakamoto, who died last year, sits at a grand piano and glides through a playlist of his most haunting, delicate melodies in this intimate “concert” movie shot at Tokyo’s NHK Studio in 2022. Filmed in luminous b&w and directed by Sakamoto’s son, the work is a melancholy and achingly beautiful elegy to a singular artist. Cleveland premiere. Subtitles. DCP. 102 min.
