Praxis Indigo Harvest JULY
Please note, this event has expired.
Help us harvest our naturally grown indigo! Over two days, we will cut the leaves and stalks from the base of the plants, flash dry them in the sun and then separate the dried leaves. The leaves are what hold the magical blue color!
Indigo is one of the worlds oldest known natural dyed. Its synthetic version is popularly known as the color of denim. Praxis is proud to grow natural indigo to educate about the history of this incredible plant and to promote positive environmental practices in the textile industry. We are growing the Japanese species of indigo and following the Japanese method of processing the dye. We are excited to use our home grown indigo at our workshop facility in Collinwood!
This is event is free and open to the public! If you would like to volunteer, please sing up using this LINK!
