NO EXIT presents Squirrel Noir - Clarinet Duo Gunnar Owen Hirthe and Derek Emch

Join Squirrel Noir for an evening of jaunty fun and multiphonics, as Hirthe’s classical training and Emch’s contemporary disposition combine within a beguiling program of works rarely heard in a clarinet recital.

NO EXIT new music ensemble is pleased to present its clarinetist Gunnar Owen Hirthe in concert with Derek Emch, as Squirrel Noir. The program Hirthe describes as “fun, radical, crazy rhythmic stuff” will include pieces by John McCowen, Dai Fujikura, Michael Tenzer, Evan Ziporyn, Derek Emch, and Eric Mandat. Listeners can expect to be awed and dazzled by the varied works, extraordinary sounds and multiphonic virtuosity.
