Natural Areas Field Trip: A Ramble at Sawdust

Join us as we ramble around the Museum’s sprawling Sawdust Preserve. We’ll skirt wetlands and wander headwater streams, looking for dragonflies, crayfish, other invertebrates, and anything else that catches our eyes and ears. Birds abound in the large blocks of upland forest and in the swampy stands of hemlock; Hermit Thrush, Least Flycatcher, Brown Creeper, Winter Wren, and Northern Waterthrush and other warblers have all been observed at the site.

WHAT TO WEAR AND BRING
Hiking boots and clothing befitting the weather, field gear, water, snacks, binoculars, camera, hiking poles if desired. There are trails on the preserve, but they are not improved trails, and we may be off-trail at times.
