To date, the oldest flutes have been found in the Swabian Alps region of Germany, and are said to have been from about 43,000 to 35,000 years ago. The Native American flute was principally used by Woodlands tribes, Southwestern tribes and tribes from the Southern and Northern Plains, this flute was once a means of transmitting signals in the night and used as a means by which a young man could communicate his love. The program will conclude with a hands on workshop to introduce them to its melodic range. Each student will take home a free professional grade instrument.
