Jewish Justice: Judaism in Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s Professional Life

In connection with the Maltz Museum’s special exhibition, Notorious RBG: The life and times of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, presented locally by PNC Bank, join Cleveland State law professor and Jewish educator Doron Kalir to learn how Judaism influenced the Supreme Court Justice’s work. While not the first Jewish person on the Court – that was Justice Louis Brandeis – Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was the first Jewish woman on the Court. A Hebrew sign hung on her office door that read, “Tzedek Tzedek Tirdof” (Justice, justice shall you pursue) as she worked tirelessly to promote the universal idea of “Tikkun Olam” (repairing the world), yet she was never one to cite the Talmud or Bible.
