The Department of Theatre and Dance at Baldwin Wallace University presents a staged reading of Blue Stockings by Jessica Swale, Directed by Martin Friedman.
Set in Cambridge, England, in 1896, female intellectuals were called “Blue Stockings,” a derogatory term for female co-eds whose uniform included blue stockings. They were allowed to attend classes but were not allowed to receive a degree. This story follows their fight for equality in education.
