“Empowering and strengthening communities through fresh, local foods.”

Food Strong was formed in 2016 to house two programs started by Founder Sara Continenza, School Gardens and Care-A-Van. School Gardens operates in Iowas Maple Elementary School and Artemus Ward Elementary School and is a student-driven, community-supported initiative seeking to create sustainable learning gardens while fostering nutrition and community wellness. Care-A-Van was created in collaboration with community partners as a wellness program executed at food-centric events such as farmers markets and harvest festivals.
