Finding Home: Untold Stories of Cleveland’s African-American Elders

Finding Home: Untold Stories of Cleveland’s African-American Elders

Presented by Broadway School of Music & the Arts and Eliza Bryant Village at Eliza Bryant Village

Hear stories from local African-American elders as they reflect on what “finding home” means for them.   Learn from their wisdom as you hear about the Great Migration, local neighborhood changes, and where “home” is beyond where they stay. Elders from University Settlement and Fatima Family Center who participate in Broadway School of Music & the Arts Telling and Sharing More Stories program as well as a elders from Eliza Bryant Village will share from their own experience.  A video clip will give a glimpse into the past to learn about Eliza Simmons Bryant, whose ground breaking work providing food and shelter for elderly African- Americans paved the way for the full spectrum of healthcare, programs and services that Eliza Bryant Village provides today.  Master storyteller Ms. Oluremi Ann Oliver will direct the program and also encourage the audience to share and reflect on their own “homes.”
