Gallery Open House: Hineni: Here I Am (Part II) Israeli Works of Art in Cleveland Collections

Presented by Jewish Federation of Cleveland at Roe Green Gallery

Landscape and the human soul, place and spirit, the collective and the individual experience are topics that form a line through the arc of Israeli art from 1948 through today. The selection of works from Cleveland collections reveal the singularity of the artist struggling to define his position in relation to the surrounding cultural and natural landscape. Driven by differing attitudes and motivations, the artists share a profound connection to the diaspora and portray complex sensations of displacement and arrival.

Lisa Kurzner, curator, has experience as a curator, gallerist, and research scholar in American and European modern art. She has worked internationally at Museum of Modern Art, Victoria and Albert Museum, The Contemporary Art Society, London, The British Council in Brussels, and at local institutions including Cleveland Museum of Art, MOCA Cleveland, and Transformer Station as an independent curator.  Lisa is currently the Associate Curator of FRONT: The Cleveland Triennial.
