“Diversity Through The Arts” (DTTA) is a specially tailored program for middle school students, offered by the Diversity Center of Northeast Ohio. Through engaging workshops and activities led by skilled facilitators and artists, students explore diversity, inclusion, and social justice using visual arts, music, literature, and writing. The program fosters empathy, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of social issues, empowering students to advocate for positive change in their communities.

We are excited to announce that DTTA will be offered to Esperanza’s STEAM summer camp participants this year. STEAM camp, through partnerships and educational curriculum, utilizes creative arts as mechanisms for students to express themselves using cultural concepts as the foundation of activities. The camp focuses on building students’ knowledge and confidence in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM), while also providing strong literacy, socio-emotional, and health components.

Through group and individual mentoring, STEAM camp aims to raise the Cleveland Metropolitan School District Hispanic graduation rate by focusing on personal growth, developing resilience and leadership skills, career and cultural awareness, community service, public policy education, and financial literacy.

The DTTA sessions at Esperanza’s STEAM summer camp will take place on June 12, 17, and 24, 2024. By participating in “Diversity Through The Arts,” middle school students not only develop creative skills but also gain valuable insights into diversity and inclusion, preparing them to become compassionate leaders in a diverse world.
