Solar Eclipse & Cyanotype Print Pop-Up Workshop

Solar Eclipse & Cyanotype Print Pop-Up Workshop

Presented by Morgan Art of Papermaking Conservatory and Educational Foundation at Morgan Conservatory

Cyanotype, or “sun prints”, are made by painting a light-sensitive chemical onto paper and then exposing the paper to the sun. By arranging materials on top of the coated paper, the areas of direct contact will remain white or light blue, while the rest of the paper deepens to shades of indigo. Participants will get up to 10 sheets of prepared paper to make their own prints, learn about the preparation and process, and will also receive a pair of solar eclipse glasses, so we can watch the dragon swallow the sun for four minutes of totality and spit it back out again. The Morgan has a one-acre sustainable papermaking garden with wide open skies, perfect for eclipse watching, including benches and other seating.
