A group Exhibition celebrating the Black Artists of Cleveland
Discover the Promise: Impact, Legacy & Perspective is a dynamic showcase of more than 35 emerging, mid-career, and/or distinguished Black contemporary artists who are creating, thriving, and or established a long-lasting imprint on the Cleveland art scene. This exhibition was curated in partnership with the Artist Archive of the Western Reserve and is being presented in celebration of Black History Month on the second floor of City Hall.
This exhibition represents a kaleidoscope of experience, where each piece unveils a story steeped in history, personal narrative, expression and innovation and is a vibrant and powerful showcase of artistic expressions that celebrate the richness and complexity of our cities diverse culture.
Upon entering the second floor of City Hall, visitors will be greeted by a dynamic display that reflects unique perspectives of the select artists. Overall, exhibiting this work within City Hall is a testament to the power of art in fostering dialogue, promoting excellence, and celebrating the unique contributions of Black artists to the cultural tapestry of the City of Cleveland. It includes photography, paintings, drawings and digital images which will be on display from now through May 25, 2024.
By weaving together these elements, the City of Cleveland and the Artists Archives seek to not only celebrate Black art and culture, but also encourage a deeper exploration of its complexities, challenges, and triumphs—thus inspiring dialogue to promote understanding, and celebrate the diversity of Black experiences.
This exhibition is on the second floor of city hall. Elevators are available, and parking is closest through the Willard parking garage in the back of the building.
