“Dynamic Deviations” – Celebrating artistic innovation, Pianist Megan Denman, flutist Ian Wenz, and trumpeter Theresa May will captivate audiences at the Convivium 33 Gallery on February 15th, 2024, at 7:00 PM. Presented by the Local 4 Music Fund and made possible through a generous grant from the Music Performance Trust Fund. Exploring the Narrative of “Dynamic Deviations” This musical journey promises to be a testament to the diversity and creativity of contemporary compositions. The program, titled “Dynamic Deviations: Works Featuring Living and Underrepresented Composers,” offers a unique narrative woven with pieces that honor the human experience. The evening commences with “In Memoriam: To the Victims of Chernobyl” by Larysa Kuzmenko, a poignant tribute that sets the emotional tone for the performance. Florence Price’s “Piano Sonata in E minor” follows, guiding the audience through a spectrum of moods and melodies. A highlight of the evening is “Court Dances for Flute and Piano” by Amanda Harberg, expertly interpreted by flutist Ian Wenz. This composition introduces a dynamic interplay between flute and piano, showcasing the versatility of both instruments. As the journey continues, Theresa May takes center stage with “Largo et Andante et Allegro et Presto et cetera” from “Winds of Change” by Zoe Cutler. The trumpet and piano collaboration promises to showcase virtuosity and expressive range. Closing the evening is “Go to the Garden” by Eris Dejarnett, a modern exploration featuring Theresa May on trumpet accompanied by fixed media. This piece delves into contemporary soundscapes, pushing the boundaries of traditional composition. “Dynamic Deviations” is presented by the Local 4 Music Fund, an organization committed to promoting local talent and fostering a vibrant musical community. The performance is further supported by a grant from the Music Performance Trust Fund, emphasizing the collaborative efforts to bring exceptional musical experiences to the community.
