Ursuline College will honor Jeannette Sorrell, Founder, Conductor, and Artistic Director of Apollo’s Fire, at this year’s “Women Who Light the Way,” with proceeds benefiting Ursuline’s scholarship fund.
“Women Who Light the Way” is Ursuline College’s signature event that honors a woman of national standing whose career serves as an inspiration to our students and to future generations. This year, “Women Who Light the Way” will recognize Conductor Jeannette Sorrell, who is recognized internationally as one of today’s most compelling interpreters of Baroque and Classical repertoire. As founder and conductor of APOLLO’S FIRE, she and the renowned ensemble have released 30 commercial CDs, including 11 bestsellers on the Billboard classical chart and a 2019 GRAMMY® winner. She is the subject of Oscar-winning director Allan Miller’s documentary, “Playing with Fire: Jeannette Sorrell and the Mysteries of Conducting,” commercially released in 2023. Proceeds will go towards the College’s scholarship fund.
Women Who Light the Way will take place on Thursday, March 14th from 6:00-9:00 PM at Gilmour Academy’s Lorraine and Bill Dodero Center for Performing Arts.
Individual tickets are $75.00 and include beer, wine, and hors d’oeuvres. Parking is free.
