Jerod Impichchaachaaha’ Tate MoonStrike

MoonStrike (2019), composed by Jerod Impichchaachaaha’ Tate, a Chickasaw composer and U.S. Cultural Ambassador, serves as a universal celebration embracing storytelling, space, and folk song. This half-hour children’s production commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing and showcases American Indian stories accompanied by a live narrator and a string quartet. Narrating three diverse American Indian legends with traditional songs, MoonStrike opens and closes with an arrangement of a Calusa Corn Dance. This dance, rooted in the traditions of various Native American tribes in the Southeastern US, marks the Harvest Moon, signifying the commencement of the yearly corn harvest. The production weaves vibrant tales featuring unexpected twists, turns, and intriguing trickster characters.

PARKING Guests can now enter the Museum through the entrance on Level 2 of the attached parking garage. Alternatively, guests can explore the front gardens located along Wade Oval and arrive through the Wade Oval Entrance. General parking is $10 for the first two and a half hours, +$1 for each additional half hour, up to the daily maximum of $18. Special-event rates vary. Parking is provided on a first-come, first-served basis and is intended for use by Museum visitors. Commuter parking is not permitted.
