The UMA Cleveland is sponsoring its annual Easter Bazaar, featuring Ukrainian pysanky, lectures, and classes. Schedule is on the UMA website.
Join us at the UMA for our 24th annual Easter Bazaar! We have classes and demonstrations on the ancient Ukrainian folk art of creating pysanky, which is an Easter egg decorated using a wax resist (batik) method. We also have beautiful pysanky for sale along with the supplies needed to create them at home.
Pysanky have been written in Ukraine and the Ukrainian diaspora for many generations, dating back to pre-Christian times. The designs on the pysanky represent symbols of Christianity uniquely expressed by the artist who created them. Come see these beautiful works of art, learn how to make them, and take a few home!
