ROMANTIC RACHMANINOFF

ROMANTIC RACHMANINOFF

Presented by The Cleveland Orchestra at Severance Music Center

The Cleveland Orchestra
Stéphane Denève, conductor
Jory Vinikour, harpsichord

Rachmaninoff is synonymous with unapologetically romantic melodies, and his Second Symphony captures this perfectly in a work that’s hauntingly beautiful … and proudly triumphant. Poulenc’s mesmerizing Concert champêtre features an instrument (the harpsichord) plucked out of its own time and set in a totally new context — resulting in an enjoyable, totally unique experience unlike anything else you’ll hear this season.

At a Glance
POULENC – Concert champêtre [Pastoral Concerto]
RACHMANINOFF – Symphony No. 2

This weekend’s concerts are sponsored by
PNC Bank,
a Cleveland Orchestra Partner in Excellence.
