ChamberFest Cleveland Season 7

ChamberFest Cleveland Season 7 "In Search of Freedom"

Presented by ChamberFest Cleveland at Cleveland Institute of Music - Mixon Hall

ChamberFest Cleveland, the celebrated summer music festival founded by Franklin Cohen, principle clarinetist emeritus of The Cleveland Orchestra, and his daughter, Diana Cohen, concertmaster of The Calgary Philharmonic, returns to the Cleveland scene with Season 7, “In Search of Freedom.” The festival concerts will take place from June 14 through June 30, 2018, at venues throughout the Greater Cleveland. Nine concerts will explore the theme for this year’s festival. The directors were struck by the idea of how art and creativity can be so strongly influenced by love, nationalism, freedom (or lack thereof), success, passion…this list is endless. Season 7 performances take a glimpse into the featured composers’ hearts and souls as they engage in their own personal struggles and search for joy.

Concerts kick off with “A Burst of Freedom” on June 14th, 7:30 at Mixon Hall. Then the festival winds its way through the many paths leading to freedom or liberation, ending with “Dawn of a Revolution,” a thrilling collaboration with GroundWorks Dance Theater at the magnificent Maltz Performing Arts Center on Saturday, June 30th. ChamberFest will also make stops at the Reinberger Chamber Hall at Severance Hall, the Crawford Rotunda at the Cleveland History Center and the spectacular Maron Glass Box at the top of the Holiday Inn Express at Euclid and E. 4th Street.

ChamberFest is thrilled to present its annual benefit along during the festival this year.  Guests will enjoy a jumpin’ party and support Season 7.  ChamberFest is teaming up with The Cleveland Jazz Orchestra for a BIG BAND BASH benefit in the beautiful marble atrium of the Calfee law building downtown on Friday, June 15 at 6:30PM!  Those who attend will partake in fabulous food, wine, craft beer AND dancing to the sounds of the Big Band era featuring ChamberFest Stars, Franklin Cohen, Yura Lee, Alexi Kenney, and more.
