Hilma

Presented by Cleveland Institute of Art and The Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque at The Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque

Sweden, 2022, Lasse Hallström

Hallström’s daughter Tora portrays the artist as a young woman, and his wife (and Tora’s real-life mother) Lena Olin plays the mature artist. Hilma was also something of a mystic whose rich spiritual life found expression in her colorful paintings. Years ahead of her time, she flourished as an independent and free-thinking woman in an era of stifling patrimony. Cleveland premiere. In English. DCP. 120 min. Special admission $12; members, CIA & CSU I.D. holders, and those age 25 & under $9. No passes. https://hilmamovie.com/
