Lightness of Being

Lightness of Being

Presented by ChamberFest Cleveland at Cleveland Institute of Music - Mixon Hall

Mozart and Mendelssohn, both undisputed masters of the light touch, perfectly illustrate the “lightness of being” in musical terms. A mesmerizing performance by the “electrifying” (New York Times) cellist Jay Campbell provides a thought-provoking introduction to a supreme achievement of the classical era, Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet, beloved for its exquisite colors and radiant virtuosity. Written when he was just 15, Mendelssohn’s Piano Sextet combines youthful vigor and ambition with a delicate filigree lightness, bringing ChamberFest Cleveland’s 11th season to a brilliant, joyous finish.
