Idle Hands

Idle Hands

Presented by Cleveland Institute of Art at Cleveland Institute of Art, Ann and Norman Roulet Student + Alumni Gallery

Idle Hands is an expression of our collective, insatiable urge to make. Although our work vastly differs from one another individually, we are bound together by the nature of craft. This show exhibits work that explores representational imagery, form, color, identity and technical striving.

We use contemporary digital themes and technologies to aid in our concepts and our work at large. Despite that, the act of creation in our work is inherently a rejection of the digital space, indicative of the value we place in the physicality of our work. We hold close not only creation in tangible material, but also the ability for people to experience the object with all of one’s self.

Idle Hands is an exhibition of work by Craft + Design juniors studying CeramicsGlass and Jewelry + Metals. An opening reception will be held from 7 to 8pm Thursday, April 6 in the Ann and Norman Roulet Student + Alumni Gallery. The exhibition will remain on view through Wednesday, April 19.

Elly Arvizu (Ceramics)
