Five opera scenes composed by northeast Ohio composers will be served up by some of the area’s exceptional singers in this unique event in collaboration with the Cleveland Chamber Symphony, with music director Steven Smith & stage director Marla Berg
Opera scenes by Margi Griebling-Haigh (from “The Higgler”), Karen Griebling (from “Richard III: a Crown of Roses, a Crown of Thorns”), Inna Onofrei (from “Ara the Beautiful”), Lorenzo Salvagni (from “The Pilot”), and Jeffrey Quick (from “The Little Hen”) will be given concert performances with chamber orchestra accompaniment in this first-of-its-kind collaboration between these two belovèd northeast Ohio institutions.
Members of the Cleveland Composers Guild create music in a wide variety of styles, and there is always something to delight, intrigue, and start conversations on each of our programs.
Featured on the concert will be sopranos Elizabeth Wangermann, Anna O’Connell, Abigayle Williams, and Rachel Rose; mezzo sopranos Stephanie Smittle, Katniss Bi, and Sue Wallin; tenor Mark Laseter; baritones Brian Keith Johnson, Loren Reash-Henz, and Jordy Vargas; and treble Alex Cosma.
