CCMS presents the Beethoven full-scale piano trios in a special two-night series, featuring chamber music’s power couple, cellist David Finckel and pianist Wu Han, plus Finckel’s colleague from his Emerson Quartet days, violinist Philip Setzer.
Experience a rare opportunity to trace Beethoven’s development in a single medium from his very first opus to his noble and compelling “Archduke” Trio. This two-night event begins where Beethoven begins – with his first published work, Opus 1, No. 1. It follows Beethoven’s musical journey to his final trio, Opus 97, composed at the height of his creative power, giving the audience a complete picture of the composer’s evolution. By all acclaim, these pieces are several of the greatest compositions ever written for the piano trio.
