From Aretha Franklin to Isaac Hayes to Public Enemy, musicians have used rock and roll as a tool for speaking truth to power and challenging systems of oppression in many different ways.
Join Mandy Smith, Education Manager for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, for a gallery talk from within the Rock Hall, exploring the musicians and artifacts of It’s Been Said All Along: Voices of Rage, Hope, and Empowerment, currently on display at the Rock Hall. Using both actual artifacts from the gallery and recordings of performances from the Rock Hall vault, this talk will explore music of rage, hope, and empowerment and the impact this musical activism has had on American life and culture.
