BlueWater Chamber Orchestra Concert

BlueWater Chamber Orchestra Concert

Presented by BlueWater Chamber Orchestra at Plymouth Church of Shaker Heights

BlueWater Chamber Orchestra, NE Ohio’s premier chamber orchestra, will perform its second concert of the season on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at 7:30 PM at Plymouth Church UCC, 2860 Coventry Road, Shaker Heights.  With a program entitled Magnetic Mozart, the orchestra will explore both famous and lesser known works of the prolific 18th century composer.  Artistic Director Daniel Meyer will be on the podium.  The performance will include Mozart’s last symphony Symphony No. 41, “Jupiter” and his Serenade for Winds, No. 12 “Nachtmusik.”  Renowned Cleveland soprano Laura Pedersen rejoins the group as soloist, performing the concert recitative and aria:  Misera, dove son / Ah, non son io che parlo, K.369.

Scored for eight wind players (2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 2 bassoons, 2 horns) the Serenade No.12, K.388 (384a) in c minor for winds (“Nachtmusik”) is not to be confused with the string piece with the same title.  Serious and moody, the work is full of dramatic contrasts and utilizes the winds idiomatically. The concert recitative and aria Misera, dove son / Ah, non son io che parlo, K.369 also carries the listener through vivid emotional changes as well as producing sweet melodious exchanges between the soprano and orchestra.  Symphony No. 41, “Jupiter” is a Mozart tour de force with its rhythmic intensity, lyric slow movement, and joyous final fugue.  The magnetic quality of Mozart’s music is immediately apparent in all three pieces.
