The Doan Brook Watershed Partnership invites the community to enjoy a fun-filled day of free fishing and outdoor activities with friends and family at University Circle’s historic Rockefeller Park Lagoon
On Saturday, July 14, family members of all ages will learn how to bait and cast a line before being set free to fish for farm-raised bluegill, bass, and catfish in the Rockefeller Park lagoon with provided bait and tackle. Participants will also have the opportunity to learn how to handle and identify native Ohio fish, look at local aquatic life under a microscope, get their face painted, enjoy live music, meet local environmental organizations, win a free rain barrel, and receive a free hot dog lunch. This event is a fun, relaxed way for participants young and old to gain an appreciation of how clean, healthy waterways can enhance our lives and our local sense of place.
Fishing equipment is available for children who do not have their own, but registration is a must. Participants should bring a cooler and ice if they plan to keep their catches. Free parking is available in the adjacent VA Hospital Garage, 10701 East Blvd., Cleveland, Ohio 44106
Free Admission. Advance registration is required for children receiving free fishing rods and t-shirts. Registration will be available at doanbrookpartnership.org prior to the event.
