The Clock (1945)

The Clock (1945)

Presented by Cleveland Institute of Art and The Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque at The Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque

USA, 1945, Vincente Minnelli

Judy Garland’s follow-up to Meet Me in St. Louis was her first non-musical film, also directed by her future husband Vincente Minnelli. The Clock is a winning and well-regarded wartime love story in which a Manhattan office worker (Garland) has a whirlwind romance with a small-town GI (Robert Walker) on 48-hour leave in NYC. Produced by MGM’s screen-musical impresario Arthur Freed, this beautifully designed movie was actually shot on studio sets, not on location. DCP. 90 min.
