In between his Oscar-winning score for Chariots of Fire and his immortal electronic strains for Blade Runner, Greece’s Vangelis composed the lyrical music for this gripping political thriller (the first American film by the director of Z) that shared the Palme d’Or (top prize) at the 1982 Cannes Film Festival. Jack Lemmon and Sissy Spacek star in the movie, in which the father and wife of an American journalist who has mysteriously disappeared during Chile’s 1973 coup work with the authorities to find him. “Will remain the cinematic evocation of a military coup for years to come.” –Time Out Film Guide. 35mm. 122 min.
