Bluebonnets w/ Jane Lee Hooker

Presented by Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

ABOUT BLUEBONNETS

The Bluebonnets have self-designated their sound as glam/garage/blues/rock – the whole package, complimented with layered girl-group harmonies. Tight and tough, the songs are energetic and genre defying—arrangements held together by guitar interplay and hooks you remember long after the show.

The band formed in Austin, Texas with core members Kathy Valentine, Dominique Davalos and Eve Monsees meeting at the famed Antone’s club. Releasing “Boom Boom Boom Boom” in 2010, followed by “Play Loud” in 2014 and “Tonewrecker” in 2017, the Bluebonnets have built a steady following with club shows and select opening slots for artists across a diverse spectrum, from Jimmie Vaughan to the Waterboys, Smashing Pumpkins and the Toadies.

Each member has a unique presence and past. Kathy Valentine, an Austin native and 2021 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee, got her start with the first punk band in Austin and ended up making her name in the trailblazing band the Go-Go’s, co-writing 2 of their top ten hits. Dominique Davalos began in the indie dance world of NYC as Dominatrix and went on to national TV band work, touring Europe, America and Russia with a number of renowned acts, as well as an impressive collection of film credits. Eve Monsees is often mentioned alongside childhood friend Gary Clark Jr.—the two teenagers soaked up the blues scene in Austin, playing together alongside many of their heroes. Eve was recently nominated as one of the best guitarists in Austin, and no wonder. She holds down weekly gigs at Antones, fronts her own band Eve and the Exiles and is a frequent go-to guitarist backing up everyone from Barbara Lynn to the late Roy Head.

The Bluebonnets often rely on the talents of several drummers–each brings her own flair and style to the band, but are excited to bring original Los Angeles based drummer Kristy McInnis back for dates in 2022.

ABOUT JANE LEE HOOKER

Jane Lee Hooker exploded out of New York City in 2015, and won acclaim in the US and abroad with their debut album of revved-up blues covers “No B!” The band were immediately snapped up and signed to legendary German blues label Ruf Records. The follow-up album “Spiritus” featured original material and was released in 2017 – once again to rave reviews from around the world. The band returned in 2021 with the release of three new singles: Jericho, Drive and All Good Things, with a full album to be released April 29, 2022.

The five members of Jane Lee Hooker have decades of playing experience, tearing up stages both nationally and internationally with acts including Motörhead, MC5, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Deep Purple, Vanilla Fudge, the Allman Betts Band, Samantha Fish, the Hellacopters, the Melvins, Turbonegro, Ben Folds Five and They Might Be Giants.

While Jane Lee Hooker’s blend of rock, blues, punk, R&B and soul pays respect to the greats of the past – this band lives fiercely in the present tense. JLH’s fiery live performances, featuring muscular lead guitars, a heavy rhythm section and soul-scorching vocals, have made them a must-see live act. In a world full of manufactured bands and live shows backed up by hard-drives, Jane Lee Hooker play rock ‘n’ roll the way it’s meant to be played – loud and with passion.
