Creativity: Learning through Experience

Presented by Cleveland Composers Guild at Glick Recital Hall, The Music Settlement

Cleveland Composers Guild celebrates the 30th year of its “Creativity: Learning through Experience” program, a unique junior concert event started in 1992. To date there have been at least 360 new works written specifically for students to premiere! The students, their teachers, and the composers work hand-in-hand to prepare for this concert each year.

This year’s concert will take place on Sunday, May 15 at 3:00 pm at the Music Settlement, 11125 Magnolia Drive in University Circle. The event is free and open to the public, although donations are very gratefully accepted at the door.

Works written specifically for talented young students to premiere are the name of this game! This year’s composers are Robert Beckstrom, Sebastian Birch, Karen Griebling, Cara Haxo, Joseph Hollings, Nicholas Puin, Ryan Charles Ramer, Lorenzo Salvagni, and Matthew Saunders, along with talented student composer Zachary Graham.

This year’s student participants are Brian Hong, Jamie Park, Nathan Hill, Aiden Scheuer, Aaron Wei, Christopher Wei, Victoria Kavalchuk, Anya Usten, Pasha Zhbankov, Sophiya Dydyk, and Tetiana Yndrys.

This year’s teachers and coaches are Amber Rogers, Tracy Rowell, Coren Mino, Win Lee, Kimberly Meier-Sims, Lilliia Poladova, Svitlana Ivanova, and the Elless Quartet from the Clevleland Institute of Music.
