The Power of the Dog

The Power of the Dog

Presented by Cleveland Institute of Art and The Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque at The Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque

UK/Canada/Australia/New Zealand/USA, 2021, Jane Campion

The most acclaimed (and debated) English-language art film of 2021 deserves to be seen uninterrupted on the big screen. Jane Campion’s tense fable focuses on two brothers—macho bully Phil (Benedict Cumberbatch) and courtly gentleman George (Jesse Plemons)—who own a prosperous ranch in 1925 Montana. A serious rift develops between the two when George brings home his new bride (Kirsten Dunst), a widow with an effeminate teenage son (Kodi Smit-McPhee). Jonny Greenwood composed the terrific score. DCP. 126 min. Special admission $11; members, CIA & CSU I.D. holders, and those age 25 & under $8. No passes or twofers.
