Presented by Cleveland Institute of Art and The Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque at The Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque

France/Belgium/Monaco, 2021, Gaspar Noé

Dario Argento (director of Suspiria) and Françoise Lebrun (co-star of The Mother and the Whore) star in the subdued, sobering new film by French provocateur Gaspar Noé (Irreversible, Enter the Void). The two play an elderly couple living out their last days in a cluttered Paris apartment. Argento is a film critic trying to finish a book on dreams and cinema; Lebrun is a former psychiatrist struggling with dementia. Though they muddle through their days together, and are visited regularly by their grown son, they each pretty much live in their own private world—a fact underlined by the striking use of split-screen that Noé has adopted for this bracing work. “[Noé’s] most mature film.” –Screen Daily. Cleveland premiere. Subtitles. DCP. 142 min. Special admission $11; members, CIA & CSU I.D. holders, and those age 25 & under $8. No passes or twofers. www.utopiadistribution.com
