Youth Drag Tutorial Costume Design

Youth Drag Tutorial Costume Design

Presented by Colors+Youth Center at Colors+ Youth Center

Teens can participate in monthly Drag 101, which will provide a historical perspective on Drag and its importance to our history from the early days in theatre, in the queer community, and in the black community, to current times; offer hands-on lessons in make up, dress and performance; and celebrate teens as they express themselves in all forms of gender. Teens are empowered by reinventing themselves through their drag persona and the joy of performing. These groups will encourage self expression, welcome gender fluidity, and challenge traditional gender norms to encourage teens to embrace themselves. Teens will have the opportunity to perform live for family, friends and the community in a Drag Show that they help to plan. Seasoned Drag performers will guide teens in makeup, costumes and performance.
