The stage at Chagrin Valley Little Theatre in Chagrin Falls will be re-energized this spring as director Mark Howard brings the 2014 Tony Award Best Musical winner “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder” to the stage.
“A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder” is a stylish musical spoof of Edwardian manners featuring book and lyrics by Robert L. Freedman and music and lyrics by Steven Lutvak. As the highlight of the 2013/14 Broadway season, “Gentleman’s Guide” received ten Tony Award nominations and won four, including Best Musical and Best Book of a Musical. It also won the Best Musical prizes from the Drama League, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle, and received a 2015 Grammy Award nomination for Best Musical Show Album.
“Gentleman’s Guide” tells the story of Monty Navarro (Danny Simpson), the distant heir to the D’Ysquith family fortune, who sets out to jump the line of succession by any means necessary. Monty’s also got to juggle a mistress with her own motives (Allison Lehr), a fiancée who happens to be his cousin (Leah Saltzer), and the continual risk of being caught by the law. Of course, it will all be worth it if he can slay his way to the earldom and the inheritance!
$21 regular, $17 for student/senior/military with ID. Group discounts available for any group larger than 10. This event is general admission, open seating. Masking is required if recommended by Cuyahoga County Department of Health.
