Photojournalist Jason Wood’s view at the state house during the Free Ohio Now and Black Lives Matter protests.
Through his work as a photojournalist, artist Jason Wood allows us to see what his soul sees – and what he sees in others’ souls. This world-premiere exhibit of his work captures images of a cataclysmic year. Once busy streets in downtown Columbus had grown empty due to state and federal public health closures in response to the COVID pandemic and the exponential increase in death. Months later, the same streets that had been empty for so long suddenly filled, not with cars and commuters, but with people marching in mass protests to police shooting of Black and Brown people and systemic racism. Jason captured many of those moments, memorializing the outrage, despair, and resilience of people determined to bring forth social change and justice.
