The Level Up Experience: Tech series of crash courses in the essentials of DIY live performance production, with introductions into lighting, sound, stage craft, video, and working in ‘non-traditional’ venues. All targeted modules are taught by MCA’s Executive Artistic Director Jeremy Paul, a veteran producer and artist with over 15 years of DIY and site-specific production experience. Whether you’re a dancer, musician, actor, or a multidisciplinary avantgarde noise performance art provocateur, the Tech Boot Camp will help you know what to plug in, where to plug it in, and how to turn it on.

Amplification Basics

Using a Sound Mixer

Mics for voice and for instruments

Dealing with Feedback (the bad kind)

Tackling ‘interference’: dirty power, unbalanced lines, cable placement

Common disasters and how to avert them
