Inlet’s open level class for teens & adults will run from September 23-December 9 on Thursdays from 6:30-8:00 pm. This class will be held in Inlet’s studios at the Pivot Center for Art, Dance & Expression on West 25th St.

This class will be a mix of Modern technique, nontraditional partnering and improvisation.

Price: $15 drop in/$130 for 10 class card

About our three techniques:

Modern technique: specifically, Hawkins-based release technique. Class begins seated on the floor, progressing to exercises standing in the center and then to movement combinations across the floor.

Nontraditional partnering: a weight sharing technique where students will be taught: weight into center, weight away from center, morphing, lean becomes lift, and more. They will also explore using this technique to create and develop choreography and may even get to learn sections of Inlet repertoire that feature nontraditional partnering.

Improvisation: where students will learn structures that Inlet Dance Theatre employs when performing improvisation in front of a live audience. Structures include NEWS, Stationary Line, Traveling Line, Sculptures, and more.
