“The Courtship & Marriage of James & Lucretia Garfield” ~ First Lady Lucretia R. Garfield, portrayed by Debbie Weinkamer
President and Mrs. James A. Garfield’s relationship was typical of others in the 19th Century. However, there were some glitches along the way that might surprise you. Through Lucretia’s own words, you’ll learn how she crossed paths with James Garfield of Orange Township and how their lengthy courtship progressed, along with tales about high- and low-points during their 22-year marriage. Children – and politics – are woven into the First Lady’s story.

This event is located on the first floor of the museum and is wheelchair accessible via our ADA ramp at the rear of the building.

Parking is available in the lot behind the museum. Cyclists may park their bikes at racks near the main entrance. Drivers may park facing the garage. A designated handicapped parking space is located near the ADA ramp and entrance. If the lot is full, visitors may park on the north side of South Park Blvd (opposite the museum).
