Celebration Honoring Dalmatians, the Official Fire House Dog
This event honors the official Firehouse Dog, the Dalmatian. The use of Dalmatians as Firehouse dogs dates back more than 200 years. Dalmatians would run along side the horse drawn fires wagons to defend the horses against other animals. They would also keep the horses calm as they approached the fire and would stand guard near the wagon to ensure no one would steal the firefighter’s horses, equipment or belongings.
There will be treats – hotdogs, popcorn & beverages. Everyone can try pumping an authentic 1800’s hand pumper. Activities and games for the children. Museum tours and fire safety lectures.
Standard Museum Admission Rates Apply $8.00 Adults, $6.00 Seniors, $5.00 Children & Children Under 3 Free
