Thursday, July 22, 6pm EST: First Zoom Session

Thursday, July 29, 6pm EST: Second Zoom Session

Don’t miss this new Virtual Cyanotype Workshop taught by Zygote Teaching Artist Lisa Schonberg! Meant to be a follow-up to our popular “Cyanotypes Basics” Virtual Workshop, in this fully virtual class students will learn how to use chemicals to coat different types of papers to create cyanotypes.

Participants will receive access to an instructional demo video and then have two Zoom video group critique sessions, one week apart. Emphasis will be placed on experimentation and the use of a variety of collected materials that will block out light from the sun for printing. While learning the process of exposing and washing out their prints, students will be encouraged to develop conceptual ideas, explore how this process can work in combination with their existing art practice and approach the making of prints with an open mind.

NOTE: While traditional cyanotypes employ photo negatives and students may want to try using them, this workshop will not go into detail about how to make negatives or any specifics about their exposure times. Also, since it’s summer time, we will only be doing our cyanotypes outside in the sun, not utilizing UV exposure units inside.
