Join the Shaker Historical Society in celebrating Juneteenth by highlighting the voices and stories of three members of the African American Quilt and Doll Guild. Learn about the stories and inspiration behind their work, their process and how their work is a reflection on African American history. Joining us will be:
-Sandra Noble presenting on “Freedom” at 1:00pm
-Gloria Kellon on “The Story & The Secrets” at 1:30pm
-Priscilla Bradley tells the story of “Winnie: Her Journey to Freedom” at 2:00pm
The African American Quilt and Doll Guild’s philosophy is to share their work, ideas, and talents in a comfortable and caring atmosphere; to explore their African-American heritage with respect to the textile arts; and to teach and inspire each other. This Juneteenth, the Shaker Historical Society is celebrating their work and commemorating Juneteenth with a quilt show in the Jack & Linda Lissauer Gallery. Learn more about these artists and the meaning behind their quilts through related programming throughout the summer.
